After
In 2010, a 40-year-old woman from New Zealand—one of my “Imperative Self Analysis” clients—cleared her brain fog in a single 30-minute online session. With her permission, I recorded the session and have included it in this post.
There are two (2) audio recordings on this post. Both are 7-minutes long. The first one is a “Deep Dive Podcast and the other one at the bottom of this posting is the actual intervention.
My client wanted to work on “a feeling of not being present – being out of it a lot”. Only after using “Clean Language Questions” did she find a metaphorical feeling in the inside of the her upper part of her head.
When a client reports “Brain Fog,” or “not being here”, it often indicates they are frozen in time due to a traumatic event. I believe the best way to heal such traumas is by preparing the client before addressing the trauma, thus avoiding re-traumatization.
In this session, the woman had been experiencing “Brain Fog” for most of her life. It was crucial to guide her back to a time before the traumatic event. Unfortunately, I initially misstepped by not asking, “How old could you be before the event that caused the fog?” I failed to realize that the fog happened just after the worst moment of the trauma and the fog was the emotional shocked state.
Once I corrected this mistake, I then guided her to a “Safe Place,” before the event that caused the fog. Then she could gather resources like “peace” and a “floating tube.” This preparation allowed her to move forward in time, past similar traumatic events, to a state of calm.
While there might be other therapies that could eliminate this emotional state, few empower the client’s younger self to rescue themselves. This self-rescue approach, in my view, is more empowering than being rescued by a therapist.
I did a follow-up 6-months later. No brain fog.
P.S. – Brain fog doesn’t always require supplements, stimulants, or endless cognitive exercises. Sometimes, what clears the fog is a return to a moment of clarity—anchored in the body and mind—and a simple, structured way to bring that clarity back.
If your fog has emotional roots, this approach might just give you the clear-headed future your past already knew.
